WALK SOFTLY, KEEP A FIRM GRIP ON THAT BIG STICK

And to all a good night!

I have decided that the following requires my comment:

Peace instead of security?

Not a new idea, a very old concept.  If the murderers, thieves and terrorists would only allow us to live in peace and prosperity!  I would support being peacefully armed...bigger, better (and secretly) than the rest of the neighborhood.

Perpetual peace is an unrealistic, futile fantasy.  This idea is constantly proposed by every generation’s  internationally-minded pacifists.  These jellyfish of the world are constantly working to de-fang or completely eliminate  the sheep dogs of our world  (disarming the “policemen on the corner”), while completely ignoring the wolves (leaving the sheep defenseless against attack by the wolves).  The murderers, thieves and terrorists are neither as fair nor as just as the rest of us.  They are just brutal.

I do not condone hunting trouble nor do I advise others to do so.  However, I do regard with horror a state of affairs which would make our country both unready and unwilling to defend itself.  A big club, a big gun, a big dog...whatever is necessary to deter that evil.  And, if necessary, the strength to wield that club, fire that gun, or loose that (war) dog on that miscreant as they attempt to trespass upon ours.  If they did not want to suffer the pain and consequences, they should have remained in their hole.

View war realistically - mass killing.  War is chaos.  The best way to shorten a war is to kill as many of the enemy as possible and as quickly as possible with as few of our own as casualties.  Beat the enemy into submission otherwise they will rise up to attack again.  Make the enemy fear the consequences of any attack they may commit (that is exactly what is being postulated by the enemy).

Leaders are such because they can make truly difficult, even unpleasant decisions when needed without hesitating.  That moment can be truly fleeting.  The enemy is waiting and watching for a flinch...to know if we will face them...to withstand their onslaught, still able to direct our force with sufficient violence and direction to prevent further attempts or to know that we will turn and flee.

How does a leader motivate decent young men raised on the precepts of the sanctity of life, and the immorality of killing to become an efficient cog in a gigantic killing machine.  The method to use, which can succeed on the battlefield, is to trespass on the inherent decency of Americans by training and motivating men to survive by killing others whose task it is to kill them.  Kill or be killed.  Their is no gray.  They want our subjugation.  If that is what the United States will allow,...then we have already lost.

What comments have our enemies made with regard to the United States?

They have stated repeatedly that they view us as a “PAPER TIGER”.  That is that we will NOT follow through to punish those who trespass upon us.  They have used as example almost every publicized conflict since W.W.II.  These have been conflicts within which our opponents have not been beaten into submission.  Draws, withdrawals, allowance of the survival of the enemy (and even allowing them to retain control), everything other than absolute surrender (look at the result of W.W.I...W.W.II).
Think of them ...Korea, Vietnam, Beirut, Iran, Iraq (the 1st Gulf war), Somalia, Khobar Towers - Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, South America.  The middle-eastern conflict has been going on longer than “the Iraq War”.  Just listen to our enemy.  Additionally, Communism is growing again.  Open eyes to Russia, see (the ever-present) China, North Korea is far from capitulating, look at everything that is happening south of our southern border.

They understand only violence and force. Anything less is just weakness.  Weakness is an opening to subjugation and domination. Look to history as to what our enemy has inflicted upon themselves.

Never give up,
never dig in,
always attack,
never let the enemy rest,
never worry about defeat,
think of and plan only for victory,
win by not losing,
We are better in all respects than our enemies, to win, we must know this.  We must have a superiority complex - Always attack.  Never surrender.  The only good enemy is a dead enemy.

Live in peace...but...keep a bigger weapon at hand than that held by your opponent.  Life is violent.  If you are tired of conflict, retire to some corner...just get out of the way - you are weakening our defenses.  The strong survive, the meek inherit only what the strong toss in the way of scraps.

It is truly depressing these days.  When did it become fashionable and mainstream to be a coward?  To boast at being the best at backing up?  Pick a presidential candidate..it seems all of the Democrats are crowing about being better than a rival at cowering to the enemy.  The Republicans aren’t much better.  There are veteran-soldiers who are calling the military murderers and other insults.

The military is just a machine.  Point the machine in a direction, hit the “ON” button, get out of the way.

We have so many opinion polls.  Is the life of the United States comparable to some Hollywood bimbo’s life?  Maybe we need to call Dr. Phil for help.  NO!

The politicians of the technology-driven, video game generation all seem to have decided they are all military leaders.  Apparently, these "armchairs" “know” how to command our team and how to control the field.  They are quick to denigrate every decision made which didn't receive a high rating on the "POLL-O-METER".

Also, I am sad that it seems that we have political leaders that are all too ready to threaten the use of “Military Action”.  I guess it’s that gray area called political power...it rots the brain of intelligence.  Where are the political leaders who know WHEN to talk, WHAT to say and WHEN TO TAKE ACTION.

I don’t understand those who are so willing to take advantage of what is available within the United States then criticize the availability of such.  Such hypocrisy.  The United States is not perfect but is better than the alternative.

Someone commented to me that we have always aired our dirty laundry.  I don’t disagree.  But I do not  understand the enjoyment apparently felt by gloating about every purported misstep.

Rather than just criticizing, how about working to make something that is good even better.

I am of immigrant parents, who fulfilled all that was required to become a part of America.  They left countries dominated by evil...dominated by tyrants and killers.  They can communicate in English fluently.  They are of good moral character with no problems relating to criminal activities.  They have given allegiance to America.  My family lost loved ones during past wars involving tyrants.

We are American because it is worth something more than a dollar sign.  It is something worthy of fighting...defending.

TO ALL...DON’T SELL US OUT!

Sincerely,
A concerned American Citizen

Clark Kent - the mild-mannered, super hero

And to all a good night!

I have decided that the following requires my comment:

Taking responsibility for your country’s safety and well-being.

Be involved in America.  Be a good American citizen.  It is not someone else's job.  It is OUR job.

There are many benefits to being a U.S. citizen.  Being a good U.S. citizen also requires certain responsibilities be borne.

“...everything is a circle.  We’re each responsible for our actions.  It will come back...”

Disaster is a fact of life.

More than 25,000 disasters, large and small, strike somewhere in the United States each year.  That’s more than 50 disasters every day.  These include both natural and man-made.

Imagine that right now - as you sit reading this article - a security incident is occurring in the next room (an assault, an act of terrorism, or something similar).  What can you do in the next few minutes to neutralize the threat - or to save your life or the lives of those around you?  Will you open the door before dialing “911” to notify the police?  Will you fling open and bolt through the door?  Do you know how many suspects are involved?  Do you know if any weapons are involved?  How will you counter the threat?  Has the threat been verified?  Or will you simply ignore it all, thinking to yourself, “it’s not my problem.”

Watch the news.  Everyday someone’s life is changed for the better and, also, a life is changed for the worse.  Could someone have done something to help prevent the tragedy?  Instead of ignoring the assault on the child and continuing to walk, could that passerby have called “911” asking for help?  It isn’t necessary to be a policeman or paramedic to help.  It just requires doing what you are able to do, doing the “right thing”.

Be aware of your surroundings, don’t just travel along, oblivious to what is transpiring around you.  When disaster strikes, respond, help your neighbor.  Stop watching life, be a part of it.  Get off your rear, turn off the TV/Video/Video game (fill in the blank). Be a part of your neighborhood, be a part of your country, be a part of this world.  There may come a time when you are in dire need of assistance, the assistance of a “Good Samaritan,” your neighbor.  If you think that it will never happen to "me or mine", you are already dead.

The main text of this article was published on September 1, 2001.

Blessed, ungrateful, spoiled brats

And to all a good night!

I have decided that the following requires my comment:

Laziness, simple-mindedness and the “Blame Game”.

It seems that everyday that I hear “people” say why don’t “WE” (the U.S.) do this, why ARE WE doing this...?

From an unnamed celebrity source.

..."The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe.  It must be true given the source, right?  The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president.  In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change.

So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What are we so unhappy about?''  Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?  Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?  Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?  Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?  Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?
I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough.  Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to  help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.  Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.  You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings.  Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes , an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.
This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.  How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?  Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen.  No wonder the world loves the U.S. ,  yet has a great disdain for its citizens.  They see us for what  we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have , and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know.  What about the President who took us into war and has no plan to get us out?  The President who has a measly 31 percent approval rating?   Is this the same President who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11?  The President that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled  ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks?  The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?  Think about  it.....are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.

Make no mistake about it.  The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country.  They didn't have to go.  They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?  Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news.  Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts.  How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner?  The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells , and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another.  Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J.Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage.

Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.  We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative."  "With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

When you see or hear someone pointing the finger, commenting as to how screwed up and bad is the U.S., think that you are the U.S.  Instead of sucking your thumb, holding your security blanket, pointing fingers and screaming that the U.S. is bad, get off your dead rear and do something constructive to help the country.  There are enough jobs out there to go around to help our country...without pawning it off to some illegal.

To the defense of America

And to all a good night!

I have decided that the following requires my comment:

Support for VICTORY over all U.S. foes!

We are fighting those that wish to enter our homes and steal our very lives.  We are fighting an onslaught here at home.  They come daily...droves of them.  They come with hands outstretched...demanding recognition...demanding their right to their share of a pie which they have not helped to create.  They come here and steal from us while they demand a rightful...legal place in our society.  They come here from around the world.  They come because the world knows that regardless of other there is one country in this world that will help its neighbors even while its neighbors revile and insult.  One country that will send its soldiers to defend others...while in return is the recipient of bile and disregard.  They come because we are American.  They come because being American has worth.

We are fighting those that wish to kill and destroy because of their desire to control as only tyrants control.  Remember Hilter, remember Stalin.  We have but to look across the seas to see the work of tyrants...China...North Korea...Cuba....Iran.  Many are at work to kill and dominate because they have the opportunity...they have the capability.  Many work for our destruction.

WE MUST NOT FALTER!

No triumph of peace is quite so great as the supreme triumphs of war.  It may be that at some time in the dim future of our race the need for war will vanish; but that time is yet ages distant.  As yet no nation can hold its place in the world, or can do any work really worth doing , unless it stands ready to guard its rights with an armed hand.

American politics are a kaleidoscope, and long before the next six years are out, the kaleidoscope is certain to have been many times shaken and some new men to have turned up.  We stand on the threshold of a new century big with the fate of the mighty.  It rests with us now to decide whether in the opening  years of this new century we shall march to fresh triumphs or whether at the outset we shall cripple ourselves for the contest.  Decisions are difficult because whatever is chosen will require a heavy price be paid.  We (as Americans) will be required to make difficult decisions which will require payment regardless as to distaste.

We have but to look to our leaders to see the wrangling...the excuses...the double-talk...the search for instant gratification.  The political machines are ever at work to maintain a perceived yet truly imaginary power.  For if we are all dead, whom amongst us is truly the most powerful?  Who is a leader?  It would seem that he who has killed us is ultimately powerful..ultimately the leader regardless of clothing worn or weapon held.

Is America a weakling, to shrink from the work of great world-powers?  No.  This young giant of the West stands on a continent and clasps the crest of an ocean in either hand.  Our nation, glorious in youth and strength, looks into the future with eager eyes and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.

WE MUST NOT FAIL!

Sincerely,
A concerned American Citizen

Get off the Porch!

 To all a good night!

In the beginning, there was amnesty (sellout) and a lack of support (spineless).
.
1.) “Amnesty” for ILLEGALLY residing individuals,

2.) Support for VICTORY over all U.S. foes.

1.) It seems that for some people (specifically U.S. politicians) it is unsavory to support anything against anyone who is a part of any “downtrodden” group.  That apparently it is fashionable to champion causes of minority groups at the EXPENSE of current U.S. Law.  Current laws relating to U.S. citizenship include the prerequisites of being:

- a LEGAL permanent resident of the U.S. for a defined period of time,
- at least 18 years old,
- able to speak, read and write in English,
- of good moral character and no criminal history.

There is nothing ambiguous regarding these requirements.  Someone whose first act upon entering the U.S.A. is to break U.S. Law appears implicitly to be in violation of at least a couple of the previously identified prerequisites.  Currently, there is discussion to not only not punish these individuals but to actually reward them.  It seems that adherence to these citizenship requirements forces the weakest people (i.e. certain U.S. politicians) to bluster and argue that exception to the standard be made.  NOTHING of value is ever given away.  If something is given arbitrarily and without regard, the recipient will value the receipt with as little regard.  U.S. politicians are charged with the protection of the U.S.A. and its citizens first before all else.

SECURE our perimeter!

Whatever is needed to protect our country!  Don’t be cavalier with the security of our country.  10+ million illegally residing individuals didn’t arrive in one night.  The flow has continued over many years.  They don’t want to stop coming here illegally.  WE are the ones who must stop this illegal flow.  We CAN deport all of them if we want to protect our country.  If we want to do it, “can’t“ is not an option.

DON’T SELL US OUT!

2.) WAR IS TERRIBLE.  WAR IS DEVASTATING.  SOMETIMES, WAR IS NECESSARY.  The U.S. has many foes that have repeatedly stated their desire for our destruction.  They have physically attacked us repeatedly.  Our foes will constantly test us for weakness.  Just as in nature, the weak perish.  We must be strong, we must be united.  Look at history for the winners and losers of any war.  Winners were determined and had resources.  Losers either lost resolve and/or lacked resources.  Our foes are determined and have resources.  Winning or losing is up to us.  If we pack up and leave the battlefield before decisively winning, our foes will regroup, follow us here and continue the battle on their terms and on our home-turf.  To limit any fight is to not win decisively.  We need to obliterate the enemy to stop the continued attacks.  To win requires determination.

DON’T BE WEAK-WILLED!

I am a child of immigrant parents, who fulfilled all that was required to become U.S. citizens.  They left countries dominated by tyrants and killers.  They can communicate in English fluently.  They are of good moral character with no problems relating to criminal activities.  My family lost loved ones during past wars.

My family is American because it is worth something more than a dollar sign.

DON’T SELL US OUT!

Sincerely,
A concerned American Citizen
